Income Protection

The following benefits provide employees with a source of income should they become disabled and unable to perform normal duties at work.

To be eligible for NDI and IDL coverage, the employee must be a CalPERS member. The Non-Industrial Disability Insurance (NDI) program provides wage continuation for employees unable to work due to non-work-related injuries or illnesses, including pregnancy-related conditions. The Industrial Disability Leave (IDL) program offers wage continuation for employees injured or ill due to work-related causes, in place of Workers' Compensation benefits.

The Industrial Disability Leave (IDL) Program provides wage continuation for jmcomicÂþ»­ employees who suffer work-related injuries or illnesses, replacing Workers' Compensation benefits.

The jmcomicÂþ»­ offers a wage continuation program, Non-industrial Disability Insurance (NDI), as an alternative to State Disability Insurance (SDI) for eligible employees who experience wage loss due to a non-work-related injury or disability. Both programs are managed by the California Employment Development Department (EDD).

jmcomicÂþ»­ faculty and staff may be eligible for Unemployment Insurance (UI) through the State Employment Development Department (EDD) if they separate from employment or experience a reduction in timebase.

CalPERS Long-Term Care provides coverage for individuals needing assistance with daily activities due to illness, disability, or aging. Current participants can access more details through the Long-Term Care Policy Participant Center portal.
