nav barr (PMCC) and qualified graduate students will be eligible to participate in a 10 week Summer Internship at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Successful applicants will work under the direction of experienced scientists in the Earth Atmospheric Science Section at JPL, and gain first hand knowledge of the challenges and rewards of research work.

As an example, students may have the opportunity to contribute to the Orbiting Carbon Observatory, OCO-2, which is being built to measure carbon dioxide globally. Previous student interns at JPL have worked on matching satellite data with ground based data, and calculated some of the key statistics. Other data analyses could include looking at time trends of the key variables and variables that indicate the data quality, or develop statistics and maps of potential measurements. Student interns will have the opportunity to attend meetings to learn more about the overarching goals and other research going on at JPL.

Qualifications: A minimum GPA of 3.0 in the major and successful completion of at least one of the courses in the Degree Program: PMCC program: Math  396, Math 483,  Phys 595CL are required. Students must be U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents.

Stipend: A stipend of $6000 will be awarded to the successful applicant for the 10 week internship.
