jmcomicÂþ»­N is one of few institutions in the nation that offers a comprehensive undergraduate program in the area ofÌýDeaf StudiesÌýand has long been acknowledged as a leader in providing quality education in a variety of Deaf-related fields. ÌýThe Deaf Studies major at jmcomicÂþ»­N provides appropriate exposure and preparation to students for professional careers as sign language interpreters, sign language instructors, teachers, counselors, government specialists, audiologists, speech pathologists, program administrators, community service personnel, and many other Deaf-related vocations.ÌýÌý

The Deaf Studies Department believes in "learning by doing" and offers opportunities for site observations, practicum and internship experiences. ÌýThrough LINCS, data have been collected on field assignments and summarized. ÌýThe data identify jmcomicÂþ»­N's school and district partners in the preparation of Deaf studies majors. Ìý
