MMC Research Lab

Welcome to the MMC Research Lab!

Our Mission

To enhance and promote good health and well-being through research, education and services in food science, nutrition and dietetics.

Working Within the Community

Working with local schools and communities toincorporate various nutrition & lifestyleintervention.Collaboratingwith various community partners.Projects and research funded byfederal, state, and private grants & donations.

Community Nutrition on Campus

In partnership with Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, weperformedanenvironmental scan of high sodium products sold at the university. Wehavecollecteddata onsodium consumption and health behaviorsand are disseminating the research.

Student interns and dietetic interns are participating in outreach efforts and collecting data toassess the students’ awareness and usage of the WIC satellite office and virtual services.

The MMC offers different workshops focusing on cancer, diabetes, and other nutritionalwellness topics. The research team collects data to help to assess any health related changes,knowledge, and behavior with pretest, posttest, and follow up surveys.

Study to correlate psychological and physiological factors such as dietary behaviors and stressto the incidence and prevalence of obesity in young adults.
